John R. Corrigan was born in Augusta, Maine in 1970. He has worked as a journalist and freelance writer in Dutchess County, New York, and earned a master's of fine arts degree in creative writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1979, prior to many discoveries in the field of learning disabilities, Corrigan was broadly diagnosed as "learning disabled, presumed dyslexic" - a theme that resonates throughout the Jack Austin series

Corrigan has published poetry, academic papers, and feature articles. He has presented papers on teaching writing and study skills to dyslexic students at national conferences.

The first Jack Austin novel, Cut Shot, earned postive reviews upon its release in 2001. In the fall of 2002, Corrigan signed a two-book contract with the University Press of New England, an honor that made him UPNE's first mystery novelist. Snap Hook was released in hardcover in March 2004. The third Jack Austin mystery, Center Cut, was published in fall of the same year. Two more Jack Austin novels are under contract, Bad Lie (Fall 2005) and Double Cross (Fall 2006).

Corrigan taught literature and writing and directed the visiting writer series at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics from 1998 to 2004. He has since moved on to the Northern Maine Community College, beginning in the fall of 2004. He has been a regular columnist for Golf Today Magazine since 2002.

Corrigan lives with his wife and two daughters in Presque Isle, Maine, and plays golf at Aroostook Valley Country Club, where he carries a single-digit handicap. He is currently at work on the next Jack Austin mystery.
